LIZARDITE
Snarum, Vikersund, Norway
Lizardite is a member of the serpentine group of minerals. These specimens
will enhance any asbestiform minerals collection, with attractive light
lemon yellow color. Lizardite is polymorphous with Antigorite,
Clinochrysotile, and Orthochrysotile. Polymorphous means that the minerals
have the same chemical composition, but crystallize in a different crystal
system or class. These specimens are nearly pure Lizardite, with very minor
associates of Hydrotalcite, Clinochlore, and / or Magnetite. Lizardite was
first named for the type locality in England --The Lizard Peninsula,
Cornwall, England
