RARE MINERALS, NATIVE ELEMENTS & MICROS FOR DISCRIMINATING COLLECTORS
From time to time we offer unique and rare minerals that deserve a better position on this web site than the single line listings in the systematic mineral pages.   And, because they are not exactly display specimens, you will find them on our new Rare Minerals for Discriminating Collectors pages.

ASBESTIFORM MINERALS
The group of naturally occurring fibrous minerals resembling asbestos.  These include hydrous aluminum-silicates, iron-magnesium silicates, calcium-magnesium silicates and others.  Commercially, these minerals are used in insulation, paint materials and automobile parts, taking advantage of their insulating properties to heat, electricity and caustics.
