SYSTEMATIC (RARE) MINERALS

REVISED July 18, 2006

Rare or hard to find minerals for research, study and systematic collections

If you are looking for rare or unusual minerals for research, reference, or systematic collection, we can help! Each year we completely revise our listing entitled Rare Or Hard To Obtain Mineral Species Available. The 2006 list, reproduced on the following pages, contains 26 pages, and more than 2500 individual listings of rare species available for research, reference, or systematic collection, with complete locality data. If you don't see what you need on the rare species list, please send us your want list and we will do our best to locate suitable specimens for you in the size and quality you prefer. This list only contains information on rare or hard to obtain mineral species -- if you want information and prices on well known, or display quality minerals for your collection (like Fluorite, Galena, Malachite, Tourmaline, Azurite, Gold, Quartz, etc.), go back to the home page and check out the separate listing entitled Mineral Specimens For Display.

Some of the rare species in this list are newly described or recently IMA approved, and do not appear in the 9th Edition of the Fleischer's Glossary of Mineral Species by Joseph Mandarino (2004). If you need information on any of these new species, please contact us with your request for information (email, FAX, phone, or write), and we will be glad to furnish the required data, or tell you where it is available. If you need a copy of the 9th Edition of the Fleischer's Glossary of Mineral Species, or would like to add other mineralogical books to your reference library, check out the separate listing entitled Mineral Books on the home page.
