Muong Nong-type tektites are similar to the traditional splash-form Indochinite tektites and, in some cases, they have been found in the same areas where splash-form Indochinites have been found.  According to a paper written by V, Barnes and K. Pitakpaivan, published in “Tektites”, P. 38-47 (1973), analysis of both traditional Indochinite tektites and Muong Nong-type tektites has shown them to be identical in composition.  The differences in these two types of Indochinites are essentially in the types of deposits in which they have been found, and in their visual appearance.  Traditional splash-form Indochinite tektites are usually found in defined shapes such as teardrops, spheres, boats, rods, discs, dumbbells, ovals, irregulars, etc.  On the other hand, Muong Nong-type Indochinites are always found in irregular shapes and masses, often highly sculptured or weathered. Small specimens are priced @ $1.00/ gram.  Item 7059 is priced at $0.35/ gram.
